A power flow consisting of 11 sequences designed by Baron Baptiste. In short, power yoga is considered the ultimate wake-up call! Power yoga is athletic yoga so be prepared to sweat! The beauty of Journey into Power is each person can adapt the postures to suit his or her own body.

Yoga Glossary- Wait, what did she say??

  • Asana - posture, pose
  • Chakra - spiritual or physical energy in the body
  • Drishti - focused gaze
  • Meditation - a state in which your mind is free of scattered thoughts
  • Namaste - I bow to you, shows respect
  • Niyamas - ethical observances
  • OM - energy buzzing in the air around you
  • Pranayama - breath control
  • Savasana - final relaxation
  • Sun Salutation - a series of fundamental poses that flow together with rhythmic movement and breathing and serves as a warm-up at the beginning of a yoga class

Studio Etiquette and Tips for Class

Our goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental and fun environment for you to thrive. You can help by being mindful of your fellow yogis. Namaste.

  • Turn off all electronics, especially your phone
  • Enter Remove shoes and leave them along the wall
  • Enter quiet and be respectful of others, especially if running late
  • Try not to eat at least 2 hours prior to class
  • If you are new to the studio please read and sign our waiver
  • Check-in and make payment upon arrival
  • Minimize conversations before and during practice
  • Bring a towel and water
  • If you need to leave early please leave quietly before the final relaxation

We are so lucky to have this yoga practice in Newton. Ashley is a wonderful teacher and her practices are both challenging as well as meditative. ...Oh, and of course HOT which gives an added mental and physical bonus. Anyone can participate from beginners to the most practiced yogi. The studio is neat and clean. Mats, blankets, and equipment are neatly stacked and laundered. The sunlight from the huge windows gives the most tranquil experience. I love my time at HYN!
